SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

We will hand over the school leaving exam certificate to mature individuals with high quality education and prospective

English is the gate to the world

We prepare young people to further study anywhere in the world, and English at least at level B2 is needed for that. Therefore, qualified native speakers teach in our school and English is also an integral part of various projects. Students have the opportunity to use the English language during the entire study also beyond the standard English lessons.

We will find a spark and blow the flame

We will teach young people what they will really need in their professional and personal life. We will arouse their desire to learn about new things, to develop creative and critical thinking, flexibility and ability to communicate. Students together with teachers may participate in decision making in various matters of school life and thus they are coached to accept responsibility for own decisions and future. Teachers teach the students to see matters in the context and combine curricula among various subjects.

The new age requires a contemporary concept of education

We offer space for the development of the uniqueness of each student. The first grade has the same context for all of them, then the educational programme gradually develops. A wide scale of variability is offered already from the second grade. The number of optional subjects increases so the student may gradually start to go on their own way of interests – into the world of human, natural science or economic science disciplines. The fourth, final grade is not only the completion of the study, it is kind of a university pre-grade.

Big things are achieved by people in a team today

Individual abilities are very important but only team work can use them effectively and fully. Therefore, the educational programme of secondary grammar school Square develops also soft skills, not only hard skills. Each project needs a forceful leader showing the way, an empathic soul who can encourage and cool down emotions when things are not going well, but also an engrossed genius who can puzzle out a complex problem contemplating somewhere in the corner. Students will try different roles within the team work and find out which is the right for them and where they can be the most effective. They learn how to work with errors, frustration, euphoria and stress.

Study is more effective in a pleasant environment

Students spend a significant part of the day in the school, so we strive to create such environment for them where they feel good. Only then can be built solid and sincere relations with teachers and among students. They will accompany them for the whole study and very probably also when all of them will go on their own way.

The whole world is our classroom

Fine strings of mutual relations start to build already during the adaptation stay. Students go on so-called expeditions twice a year, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. They deepen their friendships and practical knowledge of foreign languages there, visit museums, galleries, memorials or scientific centres that help them understand achieved knowledge in a wider context, We also interconnect the fields of curricula in logical units to reflect the everyday reality of the world around us as naturally as possible.

Frequently asked questions

How do we differ from other secondary grammar schools?

By our approach to students and to education itself. Teachers are always partners with our students on their way to knowledge rather than strict authorities who are always right. Learning is not based on memorising of a number of facts, but on the interconnection of the context using critical thinking.

Is it possible to come from a multi-annual secondary grammar school?

Yes, it is possible, but students in the grade corresponding to the 9th grade of the primary school shall be subject to the same entrance exams as applicants from a primary school. However, in the case of a free capacity in the grade, the transfer is possible after passing the entrance exam and a trial week in our school.

Do we develop communication skills?

Yes, it is possible, but students in the grade corresponding to the 9th grade of the primary school shall be subject to the same entrance exams as applicants from a primary school. However, in the case of a free capacity in the grade, the transfer is possible after passing the entrance exam and a trial week in our school.

How do we assess our students?

Yes, this is one of the most important competences our teachers put emphasis on. The ability to communicate on the level shall be achieved by the student already during the study. If the student can present both himself/herself and results of his/her work, he/she significantly increases his/her chances on the labour market.

How is education connected to the real world?

We use so-called formative assessment in classification, it gives a high quality feedback continuously. Students are assessed orally during an informal interview with the teacher or among students. This supports the student’s responsibility and internal motivation. They perceive learning as an effective way to the personal development and self-fulfilment. The teacher is not an enforced authority for students, but a guide helping them discover and develop own strengths.
